Abi Clarke
In the olden
days, i.e. the early 2020s. In the past comedians would have had the
expectation to play across the UK for many years before being invited to a TV
panel and then selling an arena tour. But, right now, it's not so easy. Comedy
is a form of art that can to continue to be performed in front of an audience
live. But, we're not going to have arena tours any time very soon. One Bristol
comedian has managed to attract an enormous global audience during lockdown
through social media. Being famous on the internet is not something that Abi
Clarke was hoping to achieve. The 24-year old, who lives in Hen bury, with her
parents, first started making online videos "to gain a following that was
like-minded and would appreciate my stand-up comedy. "I had been
performing frequently in Devon to men in their 50s that weren't as hot on my
Love Island Sims and Twilight references, so it was the right time to go online
to find other young women who love my stand-up routine." Abi, who lives in
Henbury, with her parents has continued to upload her video content to
Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. Her inspiration comes from many sources, such
as conversations with strangers, chat room, and writes down everything she
thinks on her phone.
